Warvel Park

Warvel Park is a 10 acre park located between 7th & 9th Streets at Market Street in North Manchester, IN.  This park features a great playground for the kids, including a rock climbing wall!  There are also horseshoe pits, a basketball half court, 2 pavilions as well as picnic tables and grills.  A skate park and memorial waterfall are also located within Warvel Park.

Warvel Park is also home to Scout Hall, which is available for rentals.  Click HERE for rental information.

Community Trail Network

The North Manchester Parks and Recreation Department intends to create a Community Trail Network to benefit our town in many ways. The network will link people and places within the community through a safe, scenic and nonpolluting route. We believe the trails will promote unity among families, friends and neighbors, and will provide a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities, improve physical fitness, and offer opportunities to learn about nature, culture and history.

The proposed river boardwalk is designed to meander along the river corridor, connecting with school properties, the Ruppel Sports Complex, wetlands, community pool, Warvel Park, Halderman Park, Frantz Park, the Covered Bridge, library, the historic Thomas Marshall Home and Manchester College. Pedestrian bridges will cross the river and will provide spectacular views up and down the Eel River corridor.

The Parks and Recreation Department has applied for State and Federal grants to complete this project. Visit this Web site for updates on this project.

Halderman Park

Halderman Park is located on Market Street, just south of 7th Street in North Manchester, IN.  It is situated on 1.2 acres of land and is home to our local Veteran's Memorial as well as the Holderman Cemetery display.

Mel Sautter, President

Mel Sautter has been a member of the Parks Board since 2012.  He also serves on the Planning Commission.

Mel and his wife moved to North Manchester in 2007.  He commutes to Fort Wayne daily where he works as a Sales Engineer and Project Manager for Havel, a division of Shambaugh and Son.

Education

Ogan's Landing

Located at 108 S. Mill Street, Ogan's Landing is North Manchester's newest park which officially opened June 2018!  The 2-acre park, which is located along the Eel River, is named after brothers John & Peter Ogan.  The Ogan brothers settled the area and built a mill close to the location of the new park.  

Ogan's Landing features a parking area large enough for vehicles with trailers, handicapped accessible restrooms, a canoe/kayak launch, two pavilions with picnic tables and a playground.
