Water Department

Welcome to the North Manchester Water Department, a division of Public Works.

The team at the North Manchester Water Department works hard to make your water safe, and convenient.

How your water gets to you:

  • We draw water from 5 wells in two different aquifers, this water is pumped to the water treatment plant.
  • The first process at the plant is aeration, this helps to convert the natural iron so it can be removed.
  • Then the water is pumped through our iron removal filters, greatly reducing the iron content in the water.
  • We treat the water with a form of Cl2 to provide a highly efficient disinfectant, and it is added to public water supplies to kill disease-causing bacteria that the water or its transport pipes might contain.
  • The water is then pumped to the system to be carried to your homes.
